George Horton,: Church Lay Leader
Role at FUMC Crowley:
As Lay Leader, I am a liason between the pastor and the people. I assist the pastor so that his effectiveness in ministry is maximized. We work closely in dealing with situations that confront the church. I also work with the staff to ensure every area of ministry is covered. One of the most important of my responsibilities is to know the people so that their talents, skills, and desires are used efficiently.
Started on Staff:
October, 2016 following the death of our previous long time Lay Leader, Marlene Richardson
Education and Background:
I am a native New Mexican but have lived in Texas since 1976. I retired in 2014 after a 34 year career with Central Freight Lines. I am a graduate of California Baptist University in Riverside, California.
My wife, Judy has been employed by Texas Health Resources Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas for over 35 years. She is currently serving as Director of the Emergency Department. We have three children, Jonathan, Ryan and Jae, and 5 grandchildren.
John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." KJV
"The Sound of Music"
For fun I enjoy:
Spending time with my wife doing what she wants to do.
What I like best about ministry:
Watching God work in people's lives. It is fun to watch a life that is broken being put back together by the power of the Holy Spirit.
